Gunvor Hofmo - Antikvariatisk kjøp
Det var ved en tilfeldighet at jeg og min venninne Sunniva kom over dette lille skattkammeret midt i Bergen sentrum. Her fant jeg flere spennende poesibøker, og midt blandt dem alle dukket denne ene boken opp. De 400 kronene som skulle vare i 12 dager - ble nå til 200kr.

Dette lille antikvariatet fult av spennende gamle bøker, og diverse antikviteter, finner du langs Vestre Torggate midt i Bergen sentrum, noen meter fra BT-hjørnet. Stedet er lite, men innhar bøker av høy kvalitet og verdi. Betjeningen er kunnskapsrik innenfor området og gir god service ovenfor kundene. Prisene er gode sett i sammenheng med andre mer større antikvariater. Anbefaler alle som ønsker godt eller verdifult lesestoff å ta turen innom.
Der er flere antikk og brukforretninger i byen, og flere bok og bladbutikker, men her fant jeg bøker som en sjelden finner i alle disse forretnignene. Jeg fant bebutboken til min kjære Gunvor Hofmo. Det viste seg å være 1. utgaven trykket i 1946. I god stand kostet denne boken 750,- for fem år siden, men siden denne utgaven var noe gulnet så fikk jeg tilslag på 200 kroner. Jeg kunne ikke annet enn å takke ja. Selv om innehaveren bet seg i leppen over å ha vært noe overivrig å gi et prisforslag, så har han i allefall skaffet seg en ny stamkunde.

Hun levde knapt blandt menneskene, denne ensomme kvinnen som har skrevet noe av norges sterkeste dikt. Det hele startet ved begynnelsen av andre verdenskrig da hennes elskede jødiske venninne, Ruth Maier, ble hentet og fraktet til Auschwitz i 1942, hvor hun siden ble drept. Hofmo gikk inn en dyp sorg over venninnen og utviklet derav store psykiske lidelser. Dette har påvirket all hennes diktning, som startet med debutsamlingen i 1946.
Sorg, bitterhet, ensomhet, skyldfølelse, og død, blandet med gudstro, og lengsel, er gjennomgående i de fleste diktene, som hun skriver like vakkert i ord som det gjør vondt. Hun ga så ut seks samlinger før hun midt i livet havnet flere ganger på psykiatriske sykehus, noe som gjorde at man ikke hørte fra henne på 16år. I 1971 kom hun tilbake og gav ut “Gjest på Jorden”. Årene etter gav hun ut hele tretten diktsamlinger.

Hun fikk folk rundt seg til å gå ærender og holdt seg mye for seg selv, men under denne perioden fikk hennes diktning en lysere tone. Det ble, uten hennes ønske, planlagt et dobbeltjubileum av hennes 75års dag 30. Juni 1996 og hennes forfatterskap gjennom 50 år. Men høsten 1995 ble hun brått syk, og Gunvor Hofmo døde 14. oktober 1995.
